But we couldn't spend all our time hanging around Seaview. Not when there was a zoo to be visited!
Apparently the mirror is a cunning trick to make the flamingos think their flock is larger, so they'll feel more secure.
Penguins!
A pelican, and some other birds with less hilarious bills.
The traditional African Grey parrot photo, as required by law.
I have no idea what kind of duck this is. But the tufts are very cute, be they the punky mohican style as modelled by the top duck in this picture, or the afro tuft sported by the lower duck.
The non-tufty ducks were pretty cute too. And very friendly, at least when food was involved.
Assorted poultry.
I think this was the prettiest of the tufty-headed ducks. Mottled tuft!
What kind of bird is this? I have no idea, but it came right at me when I took a photo.
A peacock. These, I can identify.
There were other animals, aside from birds. For instance, here are some inexplicable wallabies.
There was a big meerkat exhibit too. We spent a lot of time here, because meerkats are totally awesome.
Meerkats, from a slightly different angle.
Pets corner. I love the idea of this little happy household of animals, coexisting in one cage.
Owls are mighty birds of prey, striking fear into rodents everywhere. Although this zoo appears to have obtained a more camp specimen than usual.
Meerkats. They are just this awesome.
