Rappaccini's Garden

Baneberry Baneberry

The scent, like the plant, is dark green, herbal, and plump with bulging black fruit.

Fruit-and-herb shampoo. Not hideous, but not great. (My forum review).

Black Hellebore Black Hellebore

The scent is a pale green herbal, darkly rooty, with a faint rose and peony-like overtone.

On me, it ends up as a floral-and-melon men's aftershave. On Iain, it smells girly and light. Feh. (My forum review).

Black Lily Black Lily

Breathtaking darkness, a vision of grace in shadow.

A very pure, creamy-sweet lily. Nice, but, well, just lily. (My forum review).

Black Lotus Black Lotus

Lush, velvet-red blooms born from the blood shed in the eternal battle between Set and Horus the Avenger.

Bubblegum-plastic fruity sweetness, too much so for me. (My forum review).

Black Rose Black Rose

Heavy, dark and floral: a blend of roses, with a touch of amber and musk.

Bitter soapy roses, all blech and ick and feh. (My forum review).

Blood Rose Blood Rose

Voluptuous red rose bursting with lascivious red wine and sultry dragon's blood resin.

Slightly powdery but very sultry rose and cherry wine scent. Not my style, though. (My forum review).

Death Cap Death Cap

A warm, soft, ruddy scent, earthy and mild.

Vanilla coconut vetiver dirt, creamy and rich but still, ultimately, dirt. (My forum review).

Destroying Angel Destroying Angel

Papery white notes evoke the grace of this fungi, grounded by thin, crisp soil.

Sweet perfume-soaked dirt. Not my thing, but not actually horrible. (My forum review).

Devil's Claw Devil's Claw

A yellow-bright and smoky brown-black scent, horned, pronged and strange.

Vetiver single note, pretty much. (My forum review).

Love-in-Idleness Love-in-Idleness

Yet mark'd I where the bolt of Cupid fell: It fell upon a little western flower, Before, milk-white, now purple with love's wound, And maidens call it love-in-idleness.

A soft creamy lily-ish sort of note, nothing spectacular. (My forum review).

Love Lies Bleeding Love-Lies-Bleeding

The velvet flower. A lush, thick, luxuriant bloom, bold and red.

Chocolate-hazelnut-rose, creamy and soft and thick and floral. But not my style. (My forum review).

Moon Rose Moon Rose

A crisp, pale, almost translucent rose dusted by moonflower and midnight dew.

Gentle, soft roses - softer than London, not quite as delicious, but still lovely. A soft shimmery scent. (My forum review).

Shadow Witch Orchid Shadow Witch Orchid

This perfume is a dusky orchid, subdued and ethereal.

Started off a strong orchid, ended up soapy and reedy and sort of bland. (My forum review).

Sundew Sundew

A carnivorous enchantress: diverse, lovely and graceful, emitting a sticky, glowing golden, sweet and terminally inviting scent.

A very yellow, summery scent. Like I thought One to Tie, Two to Win would smell, but very faint, alas. (My forum review).

Wolfsbane Wolfsbane

This concoction of ours has none of the lethal qualities, but still personifies all of the herb's dark history beautifully.

Amazing - the scent of a dark cool forest on a warm day. Lots of vetiver. (My forum review).
