Mad Tea Party
The Caterpillar
Heavy incense notes waft lazily through a mix of carnation, jasmine, bergamot, and neroli over a lush bed of dark mosses, iris blossom, deep patchouli and indolent vetiver.
Urgh. Powder and soap, together at last. A shame, since it smelled nice in the bottle. (My forum review).
Cheshire Cat
Grapefruit, red currant, dark musk, Roman chamomile, delphinium, and lavender.
Powdery citrus and musk, and then bathroom cleanser. Not appealing. (My forum review).
Croquet
Pink lime, pink grapefruit, white nectarine, wild rose, sage, woody patchouli, bergamot, and ornery hedgehog musk.
Light airy citruses and musk, nice but nothing amazing. (My forum review).
The Dodo
Red musk, lemon peel, sugar cane, cassia, white sandalwood, mango, and agarwood.
Red musk and cassia is yummy, but I don't think the fruit notes work here - Blood Moon works better. (My forum review).
The Dormouse
A dizzying eddy of four teas brushed with light herbs and a breath of peony.
Like Peony Moon crossed with Embalming Fluid - sharp citric tea and soft gentle sweet peonies. Very nice indeed. (My forum review).
Eat Me
Three white cakes, vanilla, and red and black currants.
Like a light sponge cake flled with jam - a cake smell I am enjoying rather a lot, surprisingly. (My forum review).
Frumious Bandersnatch
Bandersnatch musk, redolent of spicy carnations, wild plums and chrysanthemum.
Warm, spicy gingerbread over sweet plum and musk. Very delicious indeed. (My forum review).
The King of Hearts
Rosewood and black cherry with white musk, red rose, red musk and a spark of lavender.
Powdery-soft lavender and cherry and musk, very very faint. (My forum review).
The Lion
A golden, spiced amber, proud, regal and ferocious.
Argh, goes horribly sour and stale on me. Yick. (My forum review).
Mad Hatter
A gentlemen's lavender-citron cologne unhinged by the feral pungence of black musk and a paroxysm of pennyroyal.
The acrid animal black musk just doesn't work with the soft powdery mint for me. (My forum review).
March Hare
A twisted teatime tart: apricot and sweet clove.
Sweet juicy apricot and hot, dusty clove. Whoa, a MTP scent that I like! (My forum review).
The Mock Turtle's Lessons
Not quite Turtle Soup: blurry aquatic notes, with a confusing, contrary splort of iris, ambrette, green apple, vodka, white mint and a squish of lime.Smells like flavoured water - refreshing but not to wear. (My forum review).
Mouse's Long and Sad Tale
Vanilla, two ambers, sweet pea and white sandalwood.
Sweet but dry vanilla-and-sandalwood with hints of amber. Nice, but no Antique Lace. (My forum review).
The Red Queen
Deep mahogany and rich, velvety woods lacquered with sweet, black-red cherries and currant.
Turned into dusy warm pencil-shavings, so enh. (My forum review).
Tweedledee
Kumquat, white pepper, white tea and orange blossom.
Sharp-sweet orange-and-kumquat-and-lemon citrus, very candy-cleanser-ish. Nah. (My forum review).
Tweedledum
Green mango, fig, patchouli and green tea.
It was promisingly mango-ish, but the patchouli and fig conspires to be icky. (My forum review).
Two, Five and Seven
A huge bouquet of squished rose petals: Bulgarian rose, Somalian rose, Turkish rose, Damascus rose, red and white rose, tea rose, wine rose, shrub roses, rose, rose, rose...
...and just an itty bitty bit of green grass.
Okay, I like roses, but this is crazy. Far too sweet, and I can't smell any grassiness. (My forum review).
The Unicorn
A misty, almost luminous perfume: wispy linden blossoms, white flowers, and a touch of sweet herbs.
Light white florals fading to weird mix of citrus, aquatics, florals and musk over something rotten. Not a keeper, but way better than most MTP scents so far. (My forum review).
White Rabbit
Strong black tea and milk with white pepper, ginger, honey and vanilla, spilled over the crisp scent of clean linen.
Honey explosion. Man, you'd think I'd have better luck with a tea party collection. (My forum review).
